Hello!
I am Meaghan Abra

Balancing Technology: A School-Wide Approach to Digital Citizenship
This full day session is geared towards providing schools or districts with the opportunities to create a plan for a digital citizenship plan that is rooted in the current research on technology in education. An overview of the current research will be used to focus the conversation, including research on: pedagogies of educational technology, health and wellness implications, cell phones in schools, policies and implementation, and digital citizenship. Through the research and local examples of digital citizenship education, participants can expect to leave this session with a plan in place for their school or district, including specific goals for learners and a starting place for an education-based digital citizenship program.

Rave Reviews
Meaghan approaches the subject with honesty and candor, which helps both diffuse a broad range of opinions in the room, to allow teams to come together on common language around what is best for kids in a learning environment regarding the use of technology for learning.
Dave Shortreed / District Vice-Principal, Learning TeamIn my short time working with Meaghan to date, it is clear to me that she exhibits care, compassion, and deep understanding of digital culture in schools. I'm genuinely looking forward to continued work with Meaghan on district, school, and committee-based projects and to continue to learn from her thoughtful and practical approach.
Josh Barks / District Vice-Principal for IT for Learning SD61Meaghan's work does a brilliant job of compiling and synthesizing much of the current research on technology use in schools and digital citizenship. Educators and schools trying to develop policies, or come to grips with their own values and beliefs around what is appropriate technology use, and how best to teach digital citizenship, would find in Meaghan's work an invaluable resource.
